2024: Season Review
2024: Season Review
As the 2024 disc golf season comes to a close, I take a moment to reflect on the journey - one filled with both growth and achievement.
This year saw me compete in 9 European tournaments and 13 British events, making for a season packed with diverse challenges. From the familiarity of domestic competition to the elite competition abroad, the experience was invaluable. I found myself constantly learning and adapting, which helped me to refine my game throughout the year.
Early Season
The first section of the tour started strong with a win at the Croydon Cyclone. I've performed well at this venue in the past, with the most notable victory at last season's BDGA Championship. Winning there again was especially meaningful, and it set a positive tone for the rest of the year.
European Swing
The European swing presented a mix of challenges and rewarding experiences. Although my performances weren’t always where I hoped, I had the chance to compete at some of my favourite courses. Playing for the first time at Ale was a certain highlight, rivalling Krokhol for the best on tour.
The European Disc Golf Festival truly pushed the limits. The level of professionalism displayed by the event team was incredibly impressive, from the organization of the tournament to the overall atmosphere. The event felt like a major sporting event, with a strong US presence and an environment that allowed for fierce competition among players. It was an unforgettable experience, and I’m already looking forward to future editions of the festival.
British Success
The British National Championships was a standout moment of the season, held at the stunning Silver Birch golf club in North Wales. While distance had been a weakness of mine in some European events, I was able to leverage this strength in the National Championship, helping me perform well and compete effectively relative to the field.
My putting was at its very best this weekend, especially from length. Aligning this peak in performance with the pinnacle of the season is something I'm very thankful for, and I eagerly await my title defence next year.
Along with the National Championship, I also claimed the BDGA Tour Points Champion and BDGA Finale Champion titles, rounding out a successful year in the UK.
Looking Ahead
While the European season posed its challenges, 2024 was undeniably a pivotal year for me. I earned significant titles and refined my skills both domestically and internationally. Although I didn’t always achieve the results I wanted in Europe, the lessons learned will only drive me to improve as I continue to face some of the best players in the world.
A big thank you to everyone who has supported me throughout this season. Your encouragement keeps me striving for excellence, and I can’t wait to see what the future holds!
